VAT update for Non Profits

Another year has passed and we are no nearer VAT certainty in many areas for charities and non profit organisations. There have again been many new VAT cases, and of course Brexit has an impact. Recent challenges by HMRC have been many and varied.

Our free one hour session will give you an update to all the main changes in VAT interpretation by HMRC, developments and court cases which affect a number of non profit organisations.

In particular, we will cover:

  • direct mail: more bad news
  • Overseas Services Received: reverse charges explained
  • Brexit: what have we learned since the referendum?
  • case updates:
    • Brockenhurst College – latest on what is closely related to education
    • Longridge on the Thames – substantially decided
    • Durham Cathedral – what constitutes access and egress from a building
    • Littlewoods – compound interest latest
    • Swanfield Ltd – how to manage debts and late payments to HMRC, and avoid further surcharges.
